Sun Camp 2016
…growing up together
An inclusive day camp for children with Down syndrome and their brothers and sisters
Sun Camp is a summer day camp, now in its fourth year, for children with Down syndrome and their siblings entering grades K-6. (Children with similar conditions and their siblings may register with advisory board approval.) This will be a two-week program from July 25-August 5 at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, based at the Mitchell Park Field House. It will run from 9am-2pm.
The focus will be on building friendships through fun activities and building interest and skills in sports and the arts. The rest of the time will be spent in fun and social activities inside, and especially outside the classroom in Mitchell Park.
Counselors will support and lead kids in a ratio of 1:2, with a few 1:1s available.
Cost will be $350 per week per child. There will be a $50 total discount per week when siblings register together for the same week. Sun Camp will be partially subsidized by fundraising through tax-deductible donations to our project through our new fiscal sponsor, Social Good Fund, to keep camp affordable and safe for our kids.
Please register your child(ren) online at:
and send the $75/wk per child deposit by check with the payee “Social Good Fund” and memo line reading “Sun Camp deposit” to Rachel Matta, Project Director, by Friday, March 18th (720 Coleman Ave Apt K, Menlo Park, CA 94025). Camp has filled with a waitlist for three years running, so we advise signing up sooner if you are certain you want to register your child.
Registrations will be counted as having been received when the deposits are received.
We’re looking forward to camp!
